Kate Winslet the oscaroclast !
Landing an Oscar, is achieving the pinnacle of success for an actress. Kate Winslet, who is not at all intimidated by this honour, certainly doesn't do things like everyone else.
The "English Rose" (as she is often called by her fellow citizens) has decided to put her statuette... in the bathroom! Crowned with the title of Best actress in 2009 for her performance in "The Reader" by Stephen Daldry, she has chosen to place her trophy in this room to allow her friends to touch it at whim.
When interviewed during a UK TV show, Kate Winslet explained her choice thus: "I figured if I put it in there, then people can avoid the whole, ?Where's your Oscar?' thing... they can sneakily have a little hold and put it back down again." Certainly a very iconoclastic attitude or perhaps we should say, in the circumstances, "oscaroclastic"!
